This video features the beginning of Alan Watts' speech on Overthinking, delivering his words through kinetic typography within a celestial atmosphere. Visually, the goal was to capture both the calm, even tempo of Alan Watts' voice and the intensity of the subject at hand. The juxtaposition of minimalist typography with bold bursts of energy to bring this duality to life. In order to give dimension to the audio, I combined the speech with a royalty free soundtrack that fit both the subject at hand and the pacing of the spoken word. Together, the merged audio created an atmosphere that was calm, mysterious, yet powerful; almost sci-fi in sound. This influenced the visual language toward starry skies and neon lights to best express the fusion of narrative and emotion present within the final product.
